Powell County Parole Board Evidence
Parole Board schedules and eligibility lists are forward-looking records. Kentucky publishes monthly lists and weekly hearing schedules, but a listed hearing can occur before the actual eligibility date. The Board may approve release subject to conditions, deny parole, or defer review. A schedule therefore proves that review was planned, not that Powell County custody ended.
When a state inmate is shown at PCDC on an eligibility list, compare the DOC number with KOOL and later state records. Seek the individual Board order for the result when available. Then use KDOC Daily Releases or the facility record for physical departure. A parole approval may still be followed by processing, conditions, or a detainer. Keeping those stages separate prevents eligibility, approval, and release from being reported as the same event.
Powell County Court Supervision Records
Probation verification begins with the court because probation is imposed through a judgment or later order. Search the Kentucky Court of Justice portal for the Powell case, note the case number, and review the judgment, sentence, probation terms, revocation filings, and discharge orders. District Court handles misdemeanors, violations, and many early felony proceedings. Circuit Court handles felony prosecution and sentencing. One person may have active records at both levels, so a single result may not describe the whole supervision picture.
A court order and a KDOC supervision entry serve different roles. The order establishes what the judge imposed. KOOL may show the state agency's current supervision status and county of supervision. When the two appear inconsistent, record when each source was retrieved and ask the office responsible for its own field. Do not infer that probation ended merely because a name or status is no longer easy to find online.
Revocation also requires careful wording. A filed allegation does not prove that the court revoked probation. A hearing date does not establish return to custody. Look for the final order and, when a new booking occurred, use the facility record for the physical custody event. This sequence preserves the difference among an alleged violation, an arrest, a court ruling, and a later discharge.
Supervision records should be matched by case or DOC identifier whenever possible. A name alone can join unrelated Powell County records.
Powell County Supervision Types
Parole and probation both involve rules in the community, but they begin in different places. Parole follows a prison sentence and a release decision or statutory release mechanism. Probation comes from a court judgment and may replace all or part of incarceration. Kentucky also uses Mandatory Reentry Supervision, or MRS, for some eligible state inmates nearing projected sentence completion. MRS counts as a parole release under state law. None of these terms means the same thing as discharge, which marks the end of the identified supervision or sentence obligation.
A person may leave Powell County Detention Center and remain under Kentucky Department of Corrections authority. PCDC houses local residents and state-sentenced people, so the building alone does not reveal the legal status. A local defendant may receive probation from Powell District or Circuit Court. A state inmate may leave PCDC on parole or MRS. The record must identify which event occurred.
| Status | Source | Meaning |
|---|---|---|
| Probation | Trial court | Community supervision imposed through a judgment or later court order. |
| Parole | State release process | Conditional release from a prison sentence while KDOC authority continues. |
| MRS | KRS 439.3406 | Statutory release to supervision for an eligible state inmate near projected completion. |
| Discharge | Court or KDOC record | The stated sentence or supervision term has ended, subject to any other case or hold. |
Verify Powell County Post-Release Status
The best starting point for a state record is Kentucky Offender Online Lookup, known as KOOL. Search by name, then use a DOC or PID number when available. Compare aliases, demographics, offense information, location, and the county of supervision before relying on a match. A photograph can help distinguish similar names, but it does not prove a current release or supervision event.
- Search KOOL for the name and any known DOC or PID number.
- Open the matching profile and compare stable identifiers rather than name alone.
- Read the supervision status, current location, and county of supervision as separate fields.
- Check the KDOC Daily Releases archive for the actual state release type and date.
- Call District 8 to confirm the correct supervising office when Powell County is shown.
- For probation imposed in a local case, use the Powell court record to confirm the judgment and later orders.
KOOL data newer than 120 days may not be final. A scheduled hearing, an eligibility date, or a projected release date is forward-looking. It is not proof that a person left custody. Daily Releases, a court order paired with the facility record, or a direct agency response provides stronger event confirmation. For a complete local release-record route, use the Powell County released-inmate search.
Powell County District 8 Office
Powell County belongs to the Kentucky Department of Corrections Probation and Parole Eastern Region, District 8. The district covers 12 counties and lists a Richmond main office plus several satellites. Its official page does not assign Powell residents to a named satellite. Calling the district first avoids sending a person to Campton or another site based only on distance.

District 8 office information
The office can route an inquiry to the proper unit, though privacy and operational limits may restrict what staff can disclose. Supply the full name and DOC or PID number if known. Do not assume that the nearest satellite is the reporting site.
The official District 8 page is shown below because it confirms Powell's district and the published contact details. The image supports office routing, not a claim about any one person's status.

Use the source page for current office information before travel, since assignments and office details can change.
Powell County Absconder Records
An absconder is a person whom the supervising agency alleges has stopped reporting or otherwise become unavailable for supervision. An absconder entry does not state when the person left jail. It also does not by itself show that a new arrest occurred. A warrant or revocation record may follow, but each is a distinct event that needs its own source.
When KOOL displays an absconded or warrant-related status, record the exact wording and retrieval date. District 8 can explain the proper public contact route. Court records may show a revocation filing, hearing, or order. VINE may later provide a custody notification if a participating facility books the person, but it is not a supervision case file.
- Violation
- An alleged failure to follow a supervision condition.
- Absconder
- A supervisee alleged to be unavailable to the agency.
- Revocation
- A formal process that can return a supervisee to custody.
- Detainer
- A request or hold from another authority that may affect destination.
- Discharge
- The recorded end of the relevant supervision term.
Powell County MRS Release
Kentucky's MRS law can place an eligible inmate on supervision six months before projected completion when discretionary parole was not granted. The rule has exclusions, including several offense, sentence, security, and prior-supervision categories. It should never be applied through a simple name-based estimate. The current text of KRS 439.3406 controls eligibility.
A KDOC Daily Releases entry labeled “Mandatory Reentry Supervision - In State” confirms supervised state release, not sentence discharge. By contrast, “Discharged - Minimum Expiration” identifies a different state endpoint. Preserve that wording when recording a Powell County release. If a person absconds during MRS, the statute can affect the credit calculation after return as a violator.
Powell County Reentry Contacts
KDOC Region 6 provides two unusually specific transition routes for Powell County. Gregory Purvis is listed as a Probation and Parole reentry coordinator covering Powell and nearby counties at 859-274-3067. Courtlyn King is listed as the county-jail reentry coordinator covering Powell and Lee jails at 606-362-6348. These contacts help navigate release transition resources. They do not verify whether a named person is in custody, released, or supervised.
The Region 6 reentry page is the official source for the assignments. KDOC reporting also documents help with state identification, birth certificates, and Social Security cards in connection with Powell's male substance-use program. That support can matter after release because basic documents often help a person meet agency and service requirements. Status questions still belong with KOOL, District 8, the court, or the releasing custodian.
Powell County Supervision Discharge
Supervision ends through an official discharge or court action, not merely because an online entry disappears. For probation, review the Powell court case for completion, discharge, extension, or revocation orders. For parole or MRS, compare KOOL with KDOC records. Ask which agency maintains the disputed field if sources conflict.
Record dates carefully. The jail's physical departure, the court's order, KDOC's release type, and the end of supervision may all occur on different days. A clear result says which source proves each event. It should not merge “left PCDC,” “began parole,” and “completed the sentence” into one claim.
Note: A supervision record answers who retains authority after release; the facility record answers when physical custody ended.
